Led by experienced Black teacher-leaders, the Oakland Inquiry Group will meet once a month throughout the school year. Through the use of equity-based protocols and culturally relevant practices, participants will explore issues in their teaching practice with support from a racial affinity based professional learning community. These meetings are for Black teachers to come together, provide support, and create sustainability with each other. Stipends of $75 per class will be provided to teachers who attend at least 4 meetings a semester and complete a final project.
As one teacher said last year, the Inquiry Group was "a place where I felt cared for, protected, challenged, enriched, encouraged, replenished, and refreshed. I literally would leave each of our meetings totally enlivened and ready to live out my purpose and duty as a Black educator."
